How to Cut Spaghetti Squash
Pre-cooked spaghetti squash is easier to cut and takes less time to roast in the air fryer.
- Use a fork to poke holes all over the skin, and place it in the microwave or air fryer for a few minutes to soften slightly.
- Place the squash on a clean kitchen towel on a cutting board and cut the squash in half lengthwise.
- Scoop out the seeds, and save them for roasting later!
How to Make Air Fryer Spaghetti Squash
- Wash the squash, and poke holes around the squash with a fork and soften in the microwave for 3 minutes or air fryer for 8-9 minutes (as described above, and in the recipe card below).
- Cool the squash until it’s easy to handle. Cut in half lengthwise per the directions above.
- Brush the inside halves with oil and season with salt.
- Cook the squash until it’s fork-tender.
- Use a fork to scrape the flesh from one end to another, creating strands.
Serve as desired.
How to Store Leftovers
Keep leftover air fryer spaghetti squash in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 6 months in zippered bags. Thaw in the refrigerator before using.
Reheat leftover spaghetti squash in the microwave or use it in stir-fries, soups, or blend some into a smoothie, or an egg roll bowl.

Air Fryer Spaghetti Squash

Ingredients
- 1 spaghetti squash about 2 pounds
- ½ Tablespoon olive oil optional
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt or to taste
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 370°F.
- Wash outside of squash. Using a fork, poke holes around the squash lengthwise (see image). Microwave on high for 3 minutes to soften (or cook in the air fryer for about 8-9 minutes). Cool for 5-10 minutes until you can easily handle the squash. Cut in half lengthwise.
- Use a spoon to scrape out and remove seeds. Brush inside of squash with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
- Bake spaghetti squash for 25-30 minutes, until fork tender.
- Scrape spaghetti squash to make noodles. Serve with butter, pasta sauce, or simply your favorite seasonings and spices.

- Choose a firm, vibrant spaghetti squash for best results.
- Microwaving the spaghetti squash first
- Cut the squash in half, remove seeds, drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper.
