You Will Love This Air Fryer Asparagus Recipe Because….
- Three ingredients are all you need to make this deliciously savory air fryer asparagus recipe.
- Leave it to the air fryer to roast veggies with perfectly caramelized edges in minutes.
- Make this as an appetizer, low-carb snack, or side dish with chicken, beef, pork, or fish!
- Serve with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese or a zesty drizzle of homemade garlic sauce or tzatziki.
Ingredients and Variations
Asparagus: Choose spears that are roughly the same size so they cook evenly, otherwise keep an eye on pieces that are thinner or thicker and remove them as they cook. Frozen asparagus needs to be thawed and patted dry before use so the oil and seasonings can adhere.
Oil: Light carrier oils like olive, coconut, avocado, or grapeseed oil offer a light coating without too much flavor. Leftover bacon grease will elevate the flavors to smoky and salty.
Seasonings: Use basic garlic powder or zest it up a bit and check out some of these DIY seasoning blends: homemade Italian, homemade everything bagel, or a fiery chili blend.
Variation
Wrap asparagus spears with your favorite flavor of bacon. Wrap the spears, secure them with a toothpick, and cook until the bacon is crisp.
Small, whole button mushrooms, thick coins of zucchini, and chunks of sweet red onions also add color and flavor to this air fryer recipe.
How to Make Asparagus in the Air Fryer
- Prepare asparagus spears (recipe below).
- Toss asparagus spears with oil and seasonings.
- Spread seasoned asparagus spears evenly in the air fryer.
- Cook until tender, shaking the air fryer basket after 4 minutes.
Serve immediately or at room temperature.
Tips for Air Fryer Asparagus
- Always preheat the air fryer – this allows it to quickly sear the exterior of the asparagus, locking in moisture and flavor.
- Leave room between the spears so they can cook evenly. Cook in batches if necessary and keep cooked asparagus spears warm by wrapping them in foil. When all of the pieces are done cooking, add them all back to the air fryer to quickly reheat them before serving.
- Store leftover air fryer asparagus in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Enjoy them cold in a green salad, or add them to a fresh parmesan asparagus pasta.
