Air fryer cabbage is a simple, savory dish that’s a cinch to make and goes with anything.
Wedges of fresh cabbage are lightly seasoned with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, then air-fried until tender-crisp with crispy brown edges.

This Air Fryer Cabbage Recipe Is a Must-Try Because…
- It’s a nutritious veggie side that’s ready in minutes with minimal cleanup.
- Each wedge is infused with savory flavor, with a tender bite and a slightly smoky aroma similar to a meaty steak or pork chop.
- The air fryer makes short work of turning a humble head of cabbage into a delicious, head-turning snack, appetizer, or side dish.
- Easy to find all year long, cabbage is an affordable and wholesome veggie that has a mildly sweet flavor with a sturdy crunch that remains even after roasting, baking, or air frying.

Pantry Staple Ingredients
- Cabbage: Choose a cabbage that’s heavy with compact leaves. Discard any discolored or torn leaves. Red and purple cabbage can be used instead of or in addition to green cabbage for a more visually striking dish.
- Seasonings: Swap out the olive oil for leftover bacon drippings and oven-roasted garlic to produce a smoky flavor. Use the seasonings in this recipe or experiment with other profiles like homemade taco or Cajun seasoning.
- Variations: Got space in the air fryer? Toss in some baby red potatoes, whole mushrooms, baby carrots, Brussels sprouts, or thickly sliced yellow onions. Add diced ham, cooked bacon crumbles, or a light coating of Panko breadcrumbs for a crunchy topping. Maple syrup, honey, sweet and sour sauce, teriyaki sauce, or a zesty Greek salad dressing can be drizzled over the cabbage wedges before serving, if desired.

How to Make Cabbage in the Air Fryer
- Add water to the bottom of the air fryer and preheat.
- Brush cabbage wedges with oil and sprinkle on seasonings. (Full recipe below.)
- Cook cabbage wedges until cabbage is tender-crisp and edges are caramelized.
- Delicious with a drizzle with balsamic vinegar before serving.

Cabbage Wedge Wisdom
- Air fryer cabbage can be cut into wedges, chunks, or sliced into steaks about 1” thick. As long as the stem is intact, they won’t fall apart during seasoning and cooking.
- Keep finished cabbage wedges warm in a crockpot when cooking for a crowd, and guests can help themselves.

Cabbage Carryover Tips
Store leftover roasted cabbage in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat wedges quickly in the air fryer or under the broiler so the edges become crispy again. They can also be added to a turkey noodle soup, a veggie soup, or cabbage and potato foil packets.
Freeze wedges on a sheet pan before transferring them to a zippered bag for up to 3 months (this keeps them from sticking together). Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.
