Ingredients and Variations

Dough – Three-ingredient cookie dough just doesn’t get any easier! Even a gluten-free flour blend can be switched out for regular flour if desired.

Variations – Fancy up Nutella cookies and use ready-made cookie dough in peanut butter, sugar cookies, or chocolate chip flavors. Pop a piece of salted caramel on top of the Nutella filling for an extra gooey treat! Substitute the chopped hazelnuts for whole rolled oatmeal or mix oats and nuts together.

How to Make Nutella Cookies

  1. Beat egg and ¼ cup of Nutella in a large bowl until smooth and glossy (as per the recipe below).
  2. Add flour in stages to form a dough. Cover and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  3. Scoop dough into 1” balls and roll into chopped hazelnuts until they’re evenly coated.
  4. Place the cookie balls on a cookie sheet and make an indentation in the center with your thumb or the back of a spoon.
  5. Pipe or spoon Nutella in the center of each cookie and bake for 10 minutes.

Cool for 10 minutes before serving or enjoy them warm and gooey with a tall glass of creamy lemonade.

Pro Tips:

  • Set the egg out for about 30 minutes before using it for faster whipping in Step 1!
  • Toast the chopped hazelnuts in a dry pan until barely browned and fragrant. Cool completely before using. This intensifies their flavor and makes them extra crunchy!

How to Store Nutella Cookies

  • Keep Nutella cookies in a covered container for up to 3 days. Add a slice of bread to the container to absorb any extra moisture caused by outer temperature changes.
  • Freeze cookies on a baking sheet and then transfer them to a zippered bag. Let them come to room temperature before enjoying them.
