You’ll Be Obsessed with These M&M Cookies Because…

  • This M&M cookies recipe is so easy to whip up. Even the littlest bakers can help out (but you might need extra M&M’s for ‘quality testing”)
  • Vanilla pudding is the not-so-secret ingredient that adds a ‘baked from scratch’ layer of flavor.
  • Cookies with M&Ms can be customized to any occasion since they come in different colors that match the holidays or the seasons.
  • Double the batch and freeze some of the dough for hot and fresh cookies, bars, or a skillet cookie any time.

Ingredients in M&M Cookies

M&Ms: Regular sized or mini-M&M’s are perfect in this recipe. There are over 60 different flavors of M&M’s including peanut, peanut butter, chocolate mint or crispy rice. Even espresso flavored M&M’s – so anything goes.

Chocolate Chips: Match the chips to the occasion. Chocolate, vanilla, mint, peanut butter, and butterscotch chips are all great with M&M’s.

Dough: Use quality ingredients like butter, real vanilla extract, and most important of all, a high-quality bag of chocolate chips. Vanilla pudding makes the dough pop with flavor, but you could try a coconut, cheesecake, or even chocolate flavor and create your own signature M&M cookie recipe every time.

Add-Ins and Variations: Why stop at M&M’s? This recipe is adaptable for using other candies like chopped Reese’s pieces, skittles, jelly beans, toffee bits, or crushed peppermint candies for a fun Christmas cookie. For holidays, give your M&M cookies some festive flair with colors of the season.

Instructions

  • Using stand mixer with paddle attachment, mix together butter, sugars, egg, and vanilla and beat until combined, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Scrape the bowl and add flour, pudding mix, and baking soda and mix until just combined, about 1 minute.
  • Add chocolate chips and mix for 30 seconds. Add 1 cup M&Ms and mix for about 15 seconds or until just mixed in, OR mix by hand so they don’t break.
  • Using 3 Tablespoon cookie scoop, scoop 15 heaping scoops (or ¼ cup scoop, fairly even scoops) and place on parchment lined baking tray. Evenly divide remaining M&Ms and press into top of each cookie dough scoop.
  • Refrigerate for 2 hours (or more).
  • Preheat oven to 350F. Line two baking trays with parchment paper and add cookie dough spaced evenly on the sheet (allow 2 inches between cookies).
  • Bake for 11-13 minutes, or until edges are just cooked/ browned. They may appear undercooked in the middle. Cool for 10 minutes or longer on baking tray and transfer to cooling rack.

Notes

  • Store baked cookies for up to one week at room temperature (if they last that long) or freeze for up to six months.
  • Unbaked cookie dough may be frozen up to 3 months. Defrost for one hour and bake as directed.
