The inspiration for this cranberry pear pie recipe comes from two places. Every year in the Fall, our friends let us pick pears from their bosc pear tree. They are so sweet and juicy and I’m thankful to enjoy them! So I am always on the lookout for pear dessert recipes, especially a baked pear recipe. This year, I decided that I just had to make a pear pie recipe with fresh pears!

Around the same time of year, we also attend a local cranberry festival and come back with pounds of fresh, cheap cranberries, so it just made sense to combine these two ingredients to make this pear cranberry pie!

To me, nothing seems more special than pear desserts, and this pear pie recipe with fresh pears and fresh cranberries is a such a great alternative to a traditional apple cranberry pie. Cranberries add the right tartness to the honey pear pie base. I love tart mixed with a hint of sweet.

Pears to Use for Cranberry Pear Pie

The bosc pear is the perfect pear for this pear cranberry pie since it ripens early and has a nice spicy-sweet flavor.  If you prefer a bartlett pear, this will work as will other varieties, but having friends with a pear tree made the decision pretty easy for us.

Just like our Easy Peach Crisp Recipe and our Pear Crisp Recipe, this is such an easy pear crumble pie recipe to make. We use a Bisquick pie crust and streusel topping.

How to Make Pie Crust With Bisquick

Making pie crust with Bisquick is easy and quick. You simply mix the Bisquick with cinnamon, butter, and water to make a dough. Then fill the pie plate by pressing the dough evenly throughout the pie plate. Easy peasy! My daughter LOVES doing this crust, and it’s fun for her to use her hands to shape the dough. No rolling required!

How to Make Streusel Topping for Pie

This streusel topping recipe is super easy to make, a bit of a twist on a homemade streusel topping. Mix quick oats, Bisquick, brown sugar, and cinnamon, then cut butter into the mixture using a pastry cutter. Stir in pecans, and add it to the top of the pie. It’s that easy! Even my daughter knows how to make streusel topping, and she thinks this is the best streusel topping recipe that we make.

We like to make this cinnamon streusel topping recipe for a seasonal harvest flavor and it pairs nicely with the pears (pardon the pun).

Enjoy this pear pie – I hope you love it as much as our family loves it.
