This Strawberry Lemonade Recipe is a Summer Must Because…
- Summertime means strawberry season, and nothing is more refreshing than a tall, chilled glass of homemade strawberry lemonade on a hot summer day.
- Ready in about 10 minutes, this perfectly balanced beverage is sure to quench the thirst of anyone at the pool, the BBQ, or the baseball field.
- This recipe is super easy to make with just four simple ingredients, a sturdy pitcher and lots of ice. Keep a pitcher on standby in the fridge all season long.
- Homemade strawberry lemonade goes great with grilled chicken and burgers, or add it alongside a fun charcuterie board for a special occasion.
- For a boozy kick, pour a shot of vodka or white rum into each glass before pouring the lemonade in.

Fresh Ingredients
- Strawberries: Choose fresh, sun-ripened, whole berries and remove the hulls. Save some whole strawberries with their hulls intact for garnish. In a pinch, you can use frozen (and thawed) strawberries or strawberry puree. Check to see if it has sugar added and if so, adjust the sugar in the recipe.
- Lemon Juice: This recipe is all about the tart lemon flavors. Use a bottle of high quality lemon juice if you’re not using large lemons.
- Sugar: Ordinary granulated (white) sugar works fine for lemonade. If using a sugar substitute, experiment with the amount to determine the level of sweetness you prefer.
- Variations: Try making a strawberry limeade version by using lime juice instead of lemon juice. Garnish strawberry lemonade with lemon slices, whole strawberries, or mint leaves.

How to Make Strawberry Lemonade
- Dissolve sugar in boiling water and cool completely.
- Puree strawberries (full recipe below).
- Stir the strawberry puree, lemon juice, water, and some syrup in a pitcher
- Taste and add more simple syrup as desired.

Make Ahead for a Crowd
- This recipe is super easy to double. Keep a double (or triple!) batch of simple syrup on hand for lemonade, coffee drinks, cocktails, and iced tea.
- Strawberries can be pureed ahead and kept in a covered container in the refrigerator until ready to add water or frozen in quart-sized zipper bags for up to two months in the freezer.
- Leftover strawberry puree can also be frozen in ice cube trays. Pop a cube or two out and add to sparkling water, smoothies, cocktails, or iced.
