Every home mixologist needs a classic, cool, and frosty strawberry margarita recipe that makes every get-together feel like a fiesta.
Fresh or frozen strawberries, limeade, tequila, Triple Sec, and ice are all it takes for these unforgettably refreshing, boozy libations.

Strawberry Margarita Magic
- Strawberry margaritas are a must-have summer cocktail, but can be whipped up any time of year using frozen berries.
- Make a tasty margarita (or a few, or a pitcher!) with only a few, easy-to-find ingredients and a blender.
- Once blended, keep them in mason jars in the freezer for make-ahead cocktails that are party-ready when you are! Just add a fruity garnish, a colorful straw, and sip away to Margaritaville!

What’s in a Strawberry Margarita?
- Strawberries: Fresh strawberries will produce the best flavor, but since most frozen strawberries are flash frozen at their peak of freshness, the flavor can be just as good. Using frozen strawberries will result in a thicker margarita, but you can simply add more water and less ice.
- Limeade: Limeade concentrate adds a citrusy, tangy flavor to strawberry margaritas, or you can purchase a specific mixer specifically for margaritas.
- Alcohol: No need for the pricey brand of tequila in this recipe since the flavor won’t be as pronounced as the alcohol is in some cocktails. However, if tequila is your thing, use top-shelf tequila (like Cuervo) for the margaritas and then float a shot of Don Julio by pouring the alcohol over the back of a spoon onto the top of the drink. Cointreau or Grand Marnier can be used in place of Triple Sec in Step 1, or it can be “floated” on top.
- Variations: Prefer a strawberry daiquiri? No problem! Simply swap out the tequila with rum, or blend in a banana for a Mexican-inspired daiquiri. Other fresh and frozen fruits to try are cherries, mangoes, peaches, or a mixed berry blend. Use the same amount of fruit as strawberries in this recipe.

How to Make a Strawberry Margarita
- Place all ingredients except water in a blender (full recipe below).
- Add water while blending to reach the desired consistency. Serve immediately.
- Or, mix the alcohol and limeade only and freeze or refrigerate for easy mixing later.

Create Cocktails Like a Pro
A perfect strawberry margarita looks as good as it tastes!
- Always start with chilled glasses, and run a wedge of lime over the rim of the glass.
- Dip the rim in salt, sugar, or Tajin seasoning.
- Place a slice of lime on the rim or add a skewer of fresh strawberries or other fresh fruit for guest to nibble on with their drinks while everyone mixes and mingles. Cheers!
- If you choose to make margaritas ahead of time, due to the alcohol content, they won’t freeze entirely. They will be ready to serve in a few minutes after removing from the freezer.
