Ingredients And Substitutions

Shrimp – Substitute shrimp with diced chicken, scallops, or even lobster for a delightful twist.

Cheese – Monteray jack cheese makes the perfect melting cheese for this baked shrimp recipe. But experiment with different cheese toppings such as mozzarella, cheddar, or Parmesan to add depth and complexity to the dish.

Garlic – Swap sweet fresh garlic for garlic powder, or dehydrated garlic flakes if needed. Use only about 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder, or 1/2 teaspoon flakes, in place of 1 garlic clove.

Tips For Success

  • Pat shrimp dry before adding to the garlic butter in the pan.
  • Distribute the cheese evenly over the shrimp to ensure every morsel is coated in cheesy goodness.
  • Do not overcook the shrimp to avoid rubbery texture. Bake just until shrimp are pink and opaque, and watch carefully when broiling so they do not get scortched.
  • No escargot dishes? No problem! Simply place lightly cooked shrimp in a baking dish, cover with cheese, and broil as directed.
  • Make ahead! Cook the garlic and shrimp ahead of time, add refrigerate until ready to assemble and broil. Perfect for party or holiday meal planning! Bring to room temperature first before broiling.
