What Goes on a Taco Charcuterie Board?
Meat: Seasoned ground beef and cooked chicken are a perfect pair for tacos, but you can also use ground chicken, turkey, or leftover steak. Make your own zesty taco seasoning. Add it to the meat and adjust the ingredients any way you like and have extra for sloppy joes or chili.
Tortillas: Hard corn taco shells and soft flour tortillas allow for variety. You can also crush up hard taco shells and make a taco salad instead. Look for mini taco shells for the kids or make them yourself by cutting a corn tortilla in half and frying it lightly in oil until it’s pliable. Fold the shells in half once they’re cooked and drain them on a paper towel before adding them to the board.
Toppings: Diced tomatoes, peppers, shredded lettuce, and a Mexican cheese blend are just the beginning. Add sliced black olives, jalapenos, green chilis, or corn niblets. Top with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, nacho cheese, or Mexican street corn salad.
Variations: Add a can of drained and rinsed black beans for those who want a veggie option. Leftover white fish, salmon, or shrimp will be a great addition to a taco charcuterie board.
