Equipment
9" pie pan
Medium Pot
Ingredients
1
baked pie shell
homemade or store bought
4
cups
diced strawberries
1
cup
water
1
strawberry flavored gelatin powder
3 ounce size
⅓
cup
granulated sugar
2
Tablespoons
cornstarch
Instructions
Prepare pie crust according to package directions. Cool.
Clean and dice strawberries.
In a medium pot, combine water, strawberry Jell-O powder, cornstarch and sugar. Stir until cornstarch is dissolved.
Bring Jello-O mixture to a boil over medium heat. Stir constantly and cook until thick and no longer opaque (about 5-10 minutes).
Remove from heat and add strawberries. Stir until strawberries are completely covered with strawberry Jello-O sauce.
Fold into prepared pie crust and spread to the edges as evenly as possible.
Refrigerate until set (about 2 hours or overnight).
Slice and serve with whipped cream or whipped topping.
Notes
Bake pie crust well to prevent it becoming soggy.
Use ripe strawberries and cut them to even sizes.
Stir the glaze continuously while cooking to avoid lumps from forming.
Glaze must cook until it becomes thick and no longer opaque.
Chill pie for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
Slice pie with a sharp knife.
